Entry Point 1 - Trout Lake

Trout Lake entry point allows overnight paddle or motor (25 HP max). This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Cook, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 30 miles. Access from LakeVermilion via 60-rod canoe portage or 180-rod portage that allows the use of portage wheels. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Thanks for the trip report, cycle - it looks like everyone was having fun ;). I also enjoyed the video - very nice - and the pictures in the blog. The funny thing to me is how you took that same picture of the rock (picture #5) that I did. It seems that just about everybody who goes up through there takes the same picture :)!


I've gone in Kawishiwi Lake the last two years and the first year I stayed on Amber at the other site after coming back down from Adams. I thought Amber was a pretty nice little lake and enjoyed the entrance paddle.


I think it's a nice area and I'm glad you enjoyed it and had a good trip.

My daughter begged to basecamp on the nice peninsula site, but when she saw the rock/rapids, she said it was the most beautiful thing she ever saw and was glad we didn't. I tried reiterating the spirit of adventure and how the hard work of traveling to new places can pay off.
