Entry Point 26 - Wood Lake

Wood Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Kawishiwi Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 13 miles. Access to Wood Lake is a 180-rod portage. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Looks like a good time!


The glow on the western horizon was certainly Ely. The spotlight was the light at the Ely Airport, south of town.

Ah yes we thought maybe that spotlight could be an airport also. The glow was Ely, wow I really didn't think it would be that bright. Good to know though.

I want to say 20 or 21 inches. My hands are about 9 inches when spread out and it was a couple past that. So 18 inches plus 2 or 3 more.
