Thanks for the tour. I agree that 8 days is too short.

Thanks for the report, Lindy - I was wondering how it would go for you guys. I also found it interesting to travel through the edge of the burn, especially since the whole thing wasn't totally burned. Your picture of the river travel at the end (beginning) shows that; I really enjoyed that part of the paddle myself. I think there was more variety of color in Sept when I went on the portages through the burn area than I see in your picture. I don't care for the beach campsites either, although lots of people seem to like them; I prefer elevated sites, which a lot of people seem to not like. And I definitely agree that an 8-day trip is much better than one about half that, especially for someone who has a long drive. When I used to try to cram one in between two weekends of long travel, I used to feel like my trip just started when I had to start heading out. Trips of 7,8,9 days are definitely better for getting into the flow of the trip. I'm doing 12 days this fall and really looking forward to that. Glad you guys enjoyed your trip.

Thanks boonie...!
I think we will do another trip next year of at least 10 days...If the wives allow it.

I'm just here to give my opinion...If you don't like it, ignore it.

Thanks for the report. We are headed up Wed. We do a similar route/trip but camp on Polly every year. We've found it to be better fishing than Mallberg. How was the water between Kiwishiwi and Kowschong? last year the beavers had really dried up the creek. Thanks.

Water was flowing nicely...water lilies were the only concern...and the wind. Up stream against the wind on the way home...;-)

Did you end up on Polly? How was the trip?

I went all the way to Malberg on Tuesday (day before you) and spent 2 nights there before heading back towards the ep. It was TH morning at 9:00 and only 1 site was open on Polly at the northern end and it was because a group had just left. I hung out at the site for a bit planning to stay but got greedy and thought I'd see if I could find something better or even on the southern end of the lake to cut distance for the next morning. Well......... all sites were taken so I decided I didn't want to go all the way back to the North end of the lake so I kept moving forward and went all the way back to Kawishiwi and spent my last night there.

Nice ducks and cowdoc... Amazing how that changes.
How was the start of the last one into Polly...?
Seems that one could be hit or miss with water levels.

Thanks for directing my attention to this trip report, LindyLair...great report! Loved the pics and the narrative about your trip. The beach sites would be fun to visit and looked very nice. Cool encounter with the large pike and snapping turtle! Also liked the Float Stanley pics! It gives me an idea for doing something similar with my younger daughters on our upcoming trips. :)

Again, thank you LindyLair, for sharing the report. Hope it also brings back good memories for you!

Camped at both sandy beach sites on Malberg & Amber lakes. Really like Amber lake, we had it to ourselves for 3 days and caught some nice walleyes there. Checked out the Fishdance pictos, which for me were a bit underwhelming, but still cool. Nice area overall.
