Labor day weekend 2024.
Entry point was 25-Moose lake. Went north, and then west onto Ensign Lake. Camped on eastern end of Ensign lake. Very busy and lucky to get a campsite. Day 2, went to Cattyman Falls and on down to Disappointment Lake. All sites full. Had to get off the water due to inclement storm. Ended up on Parent Lake on day 3, western camp site. Beautiful site. Exited from Snowbank lake on day 4. Overall fishing was poor. Some small mouth bass on Parent lake.
Nothing elsewhere. Approximately 20 miles of paddling/portaging. 11 portages in total. Already planning for 2025.

Trip Introduction:
This was the second annual “Pops and Gramps Take the Kids in to the Bush for One Last Adventure before School Starts” BWCA trip. I had heard good things about Caribou, Horseshoe and the surrounding area so the plan was to spend four days exploring, fishing and goofing off but…

…it was not to be. Things came up and this trip will have to wait until next summer. We (the entire family) did get to spend a long weekend with some great friends near Two Rivers, WI (just slightly south, east of the Gunflint Trail;); in lieu of an actual BWCA trip report, I submit the following: [paragraph break] The trip to Two Rivers from Minneapolis took about five hours and was neither eventful nor scenic; guess I expected this stretch of Wisconsin to be prettier. We are visiting two of our oldest and dearest friends, Griff and Britt. Griff and I met as high school freshman and became fast friends. During our junior years we both met and began dating the women who, a little later in life, would become our wives. 18 years later and the four of us are still thick as thieves. Our friends live on a pretty little chunk of heaven out side of town and soon after arriving we put the kids out to pasture, what ensued was… [paragraph break] A bit of this, [paragraph break]

[paragraph break] T’was not the B’dub, just a good time spent with great people. My apologies for veering off topic but I had some trip report energy to burn off and nothing but a canceled trip to report on. [paragraph break] Thanks for humoring me,
