L.T.,
Enjoyable report, I could feel the mosquitoes as your references to them made them quite real. You endured the poor weather well and were very successful in finding some nice solitude.
Where do the fish go ? I have been in the same boat. When they aren't biting, they just disappear.
Also, sorry about your Dad's ring.
Hey, your new camera shows you really do have a photographers eye. Some great photo's with this trip report.
Thanks for sharing.

The weather was pretty nice for June, according to the lake finder the flake has fish, so I don't know where they went, maybe we just suck at fishing...

Nice report, very secluded! Sounds like you had fun!

I couldn't wait for success, so I went ahead without it!

Thanks for the review. I'll be taking this route back from N. Wilder the last week in August. It gives me an idea as to what to expect. Hope the bloodsuckers are gone by then and I hope Wilder Creek still has plenty of water.

This reminds me of our trip last year (with my son) where a lot of things went wrong. The burned breakfast, ruined pot, mosquitos, bad fishing, storms... And what's up with the turtles? :)

Well, I'm sure you and your Dad had a good time regardless and will talk about it for years to come. Very sorry to hear about the ring. And those sunglasses - we always bring an extra pair. I broke mine early on a trip when I didn't have a spare set and it was brutal. In fact, this year I'm bringing 2 spare sets.

Better luck next time!

LOL tom I couldn't find my 2nd pair before we left for the trip, and accurately predicted that I would forget them.
I think due to all the beaver dams on the creek that the water level should stay constant for the entire year, if it is low on the way to south wilder you might be screwed and you might have to use the pow wow as a long long portage. (I have day hiked that segment of the trail, and couldn't imagine it with a canoe on my head. )

Wouldn't the beaver dams more likely dry up the creek downstream?
