Entry Point 37 - Kawishiwi Lake

Kawishiwi Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Tofte Ranger Station near the city of Isabella; Tofte, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 33 miles. Access is a boat landing at Kawishiwi Lake.

Great report, have done that route myself and loved it. Have been to Ima 4 times and have had an "weather adventure" each time. I think she doesn't like me.

We made the same mistake on the Fishdance portage, it is a bummer when you realize how much easier the real portage is.

I brought my REI Mountain 3 tent (and loved it!). The other tent was a Kelty but I don't know what series.

I've been on Ima twice with the same experience (although this one was much worse). I think the name should be "Ima Ocean" :)

By judging the south landing I can imagine what the portage looks like. Not to mention the look on your face when you walked back to our canoe! But I have an awesome video of the "non-portage" trail!

I agree. Ima Ocean is the perfect name for it.

Thanks for the report I am heading on a similar trip this summer. It is a mixed group ages will range from mid 40s to 70
